Hey all, i just picked up an 06 Spec V. It's the Spec V version with the Brembo Break calipers. Runs nice, smooth and quick and stops on a dime. I have alot of plans for tuning this one, starting with a CAI and exhaust and possibly transferring my 75 shot zex kit from my sephia to the SE-R.Below are some pics, hopefully they'll load.

I still have my sephia with over a quarter of a million miles, couldn't part with it so i'm still here to stay but let me know what you all think about Spec V's.

I agree. That was a sick kit they did for the sentras.

I also don't much care for the looks of the newer nose on the SER's. I liked the older sunken grille of the earlier body style. Was more aggressive looking. That looks just like a dalled up plain sentra. JMO.

I'm pretty sure there's been a few Spec V owners on this site. I have to do an oil change and i'm wondering if i should use synthetic.

Thats what i mean, i don't know if the previous owner did synthetic or reg. All i know is that it was dealer serviced for oil changes, so i guess it won't hurt to go synthetic anyways.

yeah exactly if the car has been on one thing its whole life you can change but just stick to what you change to

now wiht those specs they have really short gearing...if im not mistaken they have the same trans. as the hyundai tiburon just different LSD's. so they would be an awesome NA build..sc'ing and turbo'ing those cars would just be a heap of wheels spin... so staying NA. that motor should be able to put out 200 whp. BUT if you REALLY want to make power and go sc or turbo then like i siad swapping in a vq motor will add gobbs of hp and tq and you can stay NA nad make big whp or turbo and make even more. plus you will swap over a maxima trans. so the gears will have more MPH per gear giving you more time in each gear with traction.........WOW sorry got a little excited!!

hahaha i got weird again didnt i?!?!

Don't matter ... used to be a problem with older gasket materials. Not an issue now ... although I would say to do the synthetic stuff.

I'm sure the 2.5 has alot of potential, and the spec V's have something similiar to Vtech (felt it kick in around 5k). But it does have a rev limiter and under full throttle the rpms hit the limiter real quick so i'd like to find a way to re-chip the ecu. I'm new to Nissans and spec V's, don't know much about them so for now i'll go CAI and exhaust.

Also, wasn't there a Spec V with a 3.5l maxima engine swap online?

yeha the spec v has secondarries at 5000 rpms. like a sho taurus, hyundai 3.5l, and 96-98 mustang cobras... you can have them opened at all times for more power too. yeah there are a couple of vq35's out there too those ones specs are crazy!

none of the QR motors have variable valve timing with lift.

Oh yes they do.Since its 2002 introduction the QR25DE has always been equipped with variable valve timing. Look at the pics of slicksephia's engine cover again,it says 2.5 CVTC,which in Nissan's jargon stood for Continuous Variable Timing Control.
