This DIY isn't easy but doable. Hope you like.

These items were purchased at Shark Racing. I have had no problems with this company at all.

Here they are on my test bench. Make sure you identify the + and - wire for each signal. They won't work unless they are connected right. + to hot, - to ground.

You must remove the door panel.

Unplug the mirror. The extra wire there is the feed for the other set of arrows I installed. This wire is ran thru the door, thru the rubber hose like thing into the cabin and up to the connectors and wiring on the back of the instrument/gauge cluster. As you face the 3 connectors, right turn arrow is the green-yellow wire on the middle connector; left turn arrow is the green-brown wire on the right connector. You only need to run 1 wire to each side of the car. You attach the ground wire to the metal frame work on the door or anywhere you like. Use quick connects to attach to these wires.

Take a large screwdriver and put behind the top or the mirror and gently pry the mirror off. It will unsnap. Be careful.

Unplug the heater wires.

Unsnap the mirror holder.

Take off the 3 nuts that hold the mirror housing and a little screw that keeps the thing from falling off. You'll see what I mean.

Lay the housing on your work bench and remove all the following screws.

This is the mirror motor.

Remove these screws.

Place the mirror motor behind the piece it was mounted to. You will not be able to get it out of the housing unlewss you do this. I worked for an hour trying to figure a different way to do this.

Now work the whole assembly out of the housing. It won't be easy but it will come out. I said many discouraging words doing this. Made up some new ones too!

Now work the assembly into the new housing. Have your list of discouraging words available. You will need them.

When you get it back in move the mirror motor back to it's original position and put all the screws back in.

Remove this screw, washer, spring, and the white holder. The holder holds the snap on piece you removed earlier. Your mirror will snap back on later on.

This is the piece you removed off the back of the mirror. Snap it back onto the mirror motor. Re-install the white holder and spring. Don't tighten the screw real tight. Just till it stops turning, then back it off just slightly. Not even and eighth of a turn.

The housing came with wire. Thread it thru the mirror joint. You will also connect the arrow you will put into the mirrors at this point. There are many ways to connect these to each other. Just be sure and keep the + connected to the + on each one or they won't work.

I couldn't write a better how-to than this. You can even do this before you do the housing.

Reassemble everything. Drivers door is done. Passenger door has my old mod.

Lights on.

This DIY was done on an 06 Spectra 5. I'm sure it can be adapted for other models. I hope everything is understandable. Please don't post comments with this How-To. Please start another thread for comments so this one doesn't get lost in the background. HAVE FUN!

jcj once again you will never fail to amaze us with your great DIYs. I'm jealous, it looks great. Keep up the good work. I think I'm going to try to to make a separate web page devoted to all of your DIYs.

jcj I was looking at the pictures and it looks like the lights on the housing come on with your other amber lights correct?

Do the red arrows also come on when you turn on your amber lights?

Those leds really make the car look nice!
