Use the search function theres 1000 threads on this..
You obviously didnt try very hard: kfxperformance Jattus they both have turbo kits. A universal kit is just that. Its not going to bolt on and you will spend a lot just getting it to fit. What should you buy for optimum power gains? A turbo And any turbo kit is expensive. If you pay someone else to put it in its going to cost double what the kit is.. so unless you know how to do it yourself, your going to need probably $10,000 and I doubt you have 10,000 in cash just laying around since you do drive a kia after all...

i dont even bother ever replying to these threads except now. boomers right theres 1000s of threads about a "turbo kit project" the ever so ellusive build threads with the -turbo kit- step. think about it only like 5 out of 25 actually attempt it. and it seems like all the users who ask this are no rank. sorry if i sound mean, its been a long day of finals and work

A turbo app will cost between 3-5k tuned generally for us. 3-3.5k for the parts, and 1-2k for install and tune.
There is also 2 kits for sale, in the For Sale Forum.

No way he will spend more than 3,000?? The stage 1 KFX kit STARTS at $4,000+. He said he wants to run 12s. Sorry but you aren't going to run 12's on a stage 1 KFX kit that puts out 180-210hp... The stage 2 kit provides around 230 according the kfx. However this kit is about 5000 dollars with shipping. Add in another 1-2k as UD said and you are up to 7,000 dollars installed. If you do it the right way you WILL spend more than 3,000. we don't drive hondas the parts are not cheap or as easy to find.. He said his car is stock, and as far as I know a turbo kit does not include suspension or braking modifications. (another 1-2k).. SO PARDON MY IGNORANCE, now you are only up to $9,000.... good luck on your 12 second car And Dani - i wasn't aware you were boosted... id love to know how you can build a turbo kit with 600 dollars on a spectra

I'll agree, My quote was not for a 12 second quarter mile turbo, just a functioning, tuned turbo without other vehicle mods. The price will also depend on resources for parts and install.

Exactly... 5-6K will get you a quality, functioning turbo setup. If you really want to make your car fast, you are going to need to upgrade components of the turbo and engine to reach 12s... Personally, I think the Jattus kit is a good buy since it comes with turbo pistons and rods. . And it costs more than 3,000 dollars to do a good turbo build.. maybe if you buy every single part off Ebay.. I mean, theres obviously no difference between a $150 dollar ebay turbo and a +$1000 HKS or any ball bearing turbo Everyone thinks putting a turbo on is a rosey fun cakewalk. its not its expensive and you will run in to problems. murphys law man. It will take trial and error, time, sweat, blood, and more importantly - MORE MONEY to make it work right. Look at virgo - he just had to buy an entire new engine...an unplanned 7 or 800 dollars. what do i know though, I've only been thinking about this for the past 4 years...

Opps- But it was before your post. Pretty sure I saw the same thing twice. . . I guess I'm committed to comment now.
No one knows how to get a 12 sec spectra. It has not been done. You are pretty much on your own. And you CAN make a full turbo kit for $1000-1200 with new parts and a lot of cutting/welding/fabrication, but you will only see 14's safely.

Because pretty much nobody can afford it or has a clue what you need to do to actually go that fast.

Also you will never run a 12 on stock rims and tires. lots of hp means nothing if your tires spin halfway down the track... So we can add another 1000 on for rims and drag slicks...
To the OP: As you can see, there is much more involved than just slapping an intercooler, turbo and manifold on your car despite what some people will tell you here. Yes, you can do a budget build with junkyard saab turbos or ebay parts. but remember, you can have 2 of these three things when you decide what works best for you: 1.Cheap & Reliable = Slow 2.Fast & reliable = expensive 3. Cheap and fast = unreliable
