True story... In fact early model accents were built on the old Mitsubishi Evo IV chasis' and this is why you can bolt in Evo motors and make them AWD without too much of a headache. My neighbors Accent actually still has the frame bolt holes for the original stock Evo motor mounts. Kinda crazy.
I wanted to do the swap myself but me having an 03 it wasn't the same Chasis.

There was never an Accent built on an Evo chassis.
The old X1 and X2 Excels (pre 1995) were very suitable for 4G63 or 4G63t swaps since it came stock with the 4G15. It was the same thing as the Mitsubishi Precis.
The X3 Accent (1995-1999) as well as the LC/LC2 (2000-2005) are both somewhat suitable for an Evo IV 4G63t swap because in the Evo IV the engine is oriented correctly with the transmission on the driver's side vs. the DSM 4G63t which faces the opposite direction. The subframe and chassis in general shares nothing with any Mitsubishi however. The vast majority of suspension parts and engine/trans mounting locations are identical between the X3 and LC/LC2. Everything suspension/drivetrain related that is not identical is close enough to be interchanged.
It is in no way a simple process to convert any Accent to AWD. There is no suitable drivetrain tunnel unless you want to run the exhaust under the level of the floorpan and even then there would be significant modifications required. There are no strengthened sections to withstand the forces of having a rear differential mounted to the floorpan either.
The Beta engines are good swaps into the X3/LC/LC2 Accents though, you only have to make a custom passenger's side engine mount. For more belt clearance some people slot the holes on their other mounts also but overall it's about as easy as engine swaps get. You can even plug in and use the Beta I ECU on the X3's, and run the Beta II off of the 1.6l ECU in the LC/LC2.
To be fair to everyone the Hyundai Excel/Mitsubishi Precis twins were based on old Mitsubishi Mirage blueprints, which pretty much served Mitsubishi's small car needs for over a decade (mid 1980s until 2002). The Rio and Accent actually did share SOME parts, but only small items like knobs, switches and to a lesser extent, gas caps.My 01 Rio had a gas cap with both Hyundai's and Kia's insignia on it.

its an issue when you have two amps two 12 inch woofers a 10 farad cap and a *#'^@load of dynamat in your trunk
depends who's car are you talking about? theoretically (it varies from car to car) reducing the exhaust restrictions allows the engine to run more freely, allowing the engine to benefit more from the engine's horsepower. so our engines are technically rated at 138hp but most of the spectras that have been dynoed here were around 125 stock, exhaust might bring it up 1-2hp closer to the rated horsepower

just curious....are u running any boost on your car, cuz from what ive seen, tho only time a larger exhaust gives any hp, is when your car needs it due to the cause of boost from a turbo or supercharger,,,
